GALLERY COLLABORATION | London College of Fashion Students Showcase William Morris-Inspired Womenswear Project

Second-year BA (Hons) Womenswear students from London College of Fashion recently gathered at William Morris Gallery to celebrate the completion of a special collaborative project inspired by the life, work and enduring influence of William Morris.

Over the course of three months, 25 students immersed themselves in Morris’s creative legacy, developing a diverse collection of garments informed by close engagement with the Gallery’s collections, exhibitions and historic gardens. Drawing inspiration from Morris’s distinctive approach to art, craft and design, the students explored a wide range of creative responses, resulting in an exciting and varied body of work.

The project culminated in a special exhibition at William Morris Gallery, where students presented their final pieces and shared the outcomes of their research and design journeys. The event was followed by a celebration marking the successful completion of their second year of study.

Led by course leaders Keren Brat and Xandra Drepaul, the project was supported by the Gallery’s curatorial and commercial teams, who worked closely with students throughout the process to provide insight, guidance and access to key resources.
At William Morris Gallery, we are proud to support initiatives that nurture emerging creative talent while introducing new audiences to Morris’s ideas and influence. By encouraging fresh interpretations of his work, projects like this help ensure that his legacy continues to inspire future generations of designers and makers.
