Originally created in 1995 by former Head of Design, Pru Roskrow, Cassia Pru is a masterclass in the timeless "ditsy" floral style. Drawing inspiration from the delicate, small-scale prints of the 1930s, Roskrow developed this design within the Liberty studio to capture the effortless charm of the English countryside.
These exclusive notebooks have been designed by Roskrow exclusively for Liberty London & William Morris Gallery for our Women in Print: 150 years of Liberty Textiles exhibition. Taking inspiration from famous fabric designs from Liberty London's archive these colourful notebooks are plain inside and can be used as a pocket sketch or note book.
The print showcases a whimsical sward of vibrant buttercups, arranged in a playful composition that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Roskrow was renowned for her "painterly" and impressionistic approach—a style also seen in her other celebrated archive designs like Ellis Garden and her signature Pansy medley. Her work is defined by its ability to translate soft watercolor textures into intricate botanical patterns that remain as relevant today as they were decades ago.
With its joyful energy and rich design heritage, Cassia Pru brings the warmth of a sun-drenched field to life, making it a standout addition to any collection of textile art.
Now part of the Liberty Tana Capsule, Cassia Pru appears alongside John, Colleen Stacey and Lawrence Poppies across a beautifully curated range
About the Exhibition
William Morris Gallery will present Women in Print: 150 years of Liberty Textiles. Conceived in partnership with Liberty Fabrics on the occasion of the design house’s 150th anniversary, this major exhibition will highlight the pivotal role and contributions of women textile designers.
Tracing the rich history of Liberty Fabrics, the exhibition will survey the evolving influence and status of women in textiles over the past 150 years. Women in Print will bring together iconic patterns by designers such as Althea McNish, Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell, and Lucienne Day, alongside previously overlooked names, celebrating how women have been — and continue to be — at the heart of Liberty’s creative innovations and ongoing relevance today. It will feature over 100 works, spanning garments, fabric, original designs, film and historic photographs.
Women in Print is curated by Rowan Bain, Principal Curator of Collections and Programme and Róisín Inglesby, Curator William Morris Gallery. Part of the Gallery’s 75th Anniversary Year programme, the exhibition will be accompanied by an exciting programme of events and activities at the Gallery.
