Discover the stories, people and places at the heart of Earthly Paradise: Radical Living in the UK through this exclusive A3 print, specially commissioned by William Morris Gallery and created by Cambridge-based artist and historian Rory Hutton.
This striking lino-cut design celebrates Benton End, the Suffolk home of artist and plantsman Cedric Morris and his partner Arthur Lett-Haines. More than a private residence, Benton End became an influential centre of artistic education and creativity, welcoming generations of students who were encouraged to develop their own artistic voice. Surrounded by extraordinary gardens cultivated by Morris, the house fostered a unique environment where art, horticulture and daily life were closely intertwined.
Inspired by an exhibition that explores 200 years of artists, activists and communities who challenged convention and imagined new ways of living, Hutton's design brings together historical storytelling, printmaking and craftsmanship. Through carefully chosen imagery, the print reflects Benton End's enduring legacy as a place of creative freedom, experimentation and learning, celebrating the relationship between home, nature and artistic practice.
Printed in Sussex on FSC-certified Mondi smooth paper, this high-quality A3 print makes a distinctive addition to any home and an ideal gift for admirers of British art, gardening history and creative heritage.
Every purchase directly supports William Morris Gallery, helping to fund vital conservation work, world-class exhibitions and community education programmes.
