Celebrate timeless beauty with this elegant Seaweed HB Pencil, featuring one of the most recognisable designs associated with the Arts and Crafts movement.

Designed by John Henry Dearle in the late nineteenth century, Seaweed is a richly detailed pattern inspired by the natural world. Dearle, who worked closely with William Morris and became the principal designer for Morris & Co. after Morris's death, developed a distinctive design style characterised by flowing forms, intricate decoration and vibrant botanical motifs. Seaweed remains one of his most enduring and beloved textile designs.

Inspired by the movement and forms of underwater plants, the design demonstrates Dearle's exceptional talent for translating nature into decorative patterns. Although often associated with William Morris, many of Morris & Co.'s later designs were created by Dearle, whose contribution to the Arts and Crafts movement is increasingly recognised today.

Perfect for everyday writing, sketching, drawing or jotting down ideas, this beautifully designed HB pencil brings a touch of Arts and Crafts heritage to an everyday essential.

Every purchase directly supports William Morris Gallery, helping to fund vital conservation work, world-class exhibitions and community education programmes.
