Ashish - Pink 'Immigrant' T-shirt - Medium

Creating clothing as a site of expression and engagement, Ashish explores the complexity of identity in relation to gender, sexuality, race, nationality and class.

Ashish initially created this t-shirt for himself to wear when he appeared at the end of the runway presentation for his Spring/ Summer 2017 collection as an act of empowerment, reclaiming the word from negative public discourse.

Drawn from his archive, and available at the William Morris Gallery to coincide with the exhibition ‘Ashish: Fall in Love and Be More Tender’, 2023.
