The animal kingdom was a constant source of inspiration for members of the Arts and Crafts movement. Join curator Roisin Inglesby as she explores the rich significance of birds and animals as objects of artistic education, creatures with heraldic and mythical associations, and examples of nature’s perfection in pattern and proportion. In keeping with the ethos of the Arts and Crafts movement, these decorations and motifs are found across media including book illustration, wallpaper, furniture, textiles, stained glass, metalwork and ceramics.
