Takeami, the craft of bamboo-weaving, has been long practiced in Japan to create a wide variety of household items from baskets to trivets, as well as items specific to Japan’s culture of tea preparation and drinking, such as this bamboo tea strainer from Ōita Prefecture. Hand woven from strong and flexible strips of bamboo, this tea strainer is made by craftspeople expert in the generations-old tradition of bamboo-weaving. This strainer prevents loose tea leaves from entering a tea cup, while also generating a mild aroma of bamboo, which mixes with the scent of the tea itself.

Size: L17 cm x W8 cm x H9 cm

Handwashing recommended.
